 Chianti Classico region 

During our drive, I will share with you the secrets of the Chianti Classico territory. This is the oldest, original historic wine region, strictly marked by the legendary Gallo Nero (Black Rooster) emblem. It is a land defined by unique soil, rolling hills, and strict traditional rules that produce some of the most prestigious, structured, and elegant Sangiovese wines in the entire world.

1. Morning Stop: The Historic Charm of Greve in Chianti

Our first stop of the morning is Greve in Chianti, the historical market heart of the wine region. We will stop here for a beautiful walk together. I will show you its famous and unique triangular piazza, surrounded by ancient open-air porticoes. You will have dedicated free time to explore the historic artisan butcher shops, discover local boutiques, and soak in the vibrant, timeless atmosphere of this small Chianti village at your own pace.

2. Midday: The Castle Experience & Farm-to-Table Lunch

Next, we will drive up to a magnificent medieval Castle that has stood guard over the valley for nearly a thousand years. This legendary estate carries a fascinating heritage: it was the birthplace of the famous maritime explorer who first mapped the East Coast of North America.

A walk through the lush Renaissance gardens of the Castle will lead us through the secrets of the ancient, historic aging cellars carved directly into the hillside beneath it. Surrounded by massive oak casks, you will discover how wine has been passionately produced on these grounds for centuries.

After the tour, we will reach the warm and welcoming Hosteria, where a full, family-style lunch with shared tables awaits you.

The Castle Paired Menu:

• Antipasto: Tuscan PDO prosciutto, wild boar salami, traditional soprassata, finocchiona, and crostini with Val di Greve cured lard. Enhanced by a tasting of aged “Balsamico” on pecorino cheese and organic extra virgin olive oil.

• Primo: Traditional pasta with rich tomato sauce and fresh Chianti herbs.

• Secondo: Grilled local sausages and pork ribs accompanied by seasonal side dishes straight from our vegetable garden.

• Dulcis in Fundo: Homemade farm dessert and traditional almond cantuccini served with fresh coffee.

3. Afternoon: An Intimate, Family-Run Cellar in Castellina

To complete this spectacular day, we will head towards Castellina in Chianti to visit a very special, intimate family-run cellar. This estate is run by dear, long-time friends of our family who have been passionately producing wine in the Chianti Classico area for generations.

Located in a truly magical and panoramic hidden spot, this cellar offers a deeply personal and exclusive experience. Together with our friends, you will enjoy a full visit of their private property, where we will experience a premium tasting of their Chianti and Chianti Classico wines, an extra virgin olive oil tasting, and a tasting of the family’s own local products. It is an intimate moment to chat with the makers, enjoy an amazing view, and experience true Tuscan hospitality away from the commercial crowds.
